my wife did an amazing job of sorting the 9k+ pictures i took of our time in new zealand in to two photo albums to share with our kids. she inscribed one of the albums with the following:

in 2007 mom got really sick of her job. one day, with very little thought, she suggested to dad that she quit her job and get one in new zealand for a year. dad said that was fine.

we had a few delays and spent a few weeks at aunt l and l's house and then a few more in washington state. finally, with all visas in hand we headed off to new zealand.

this is the second of two photo albums of our trip.

the moral is... never stay doing something that you are unhappy doing if you can think of a way out...

i'd suggest there is another moral to be found if you've been looking through these albums or wondered how someone managed to take 9k+ pictures in a year. we made the most of our time here and in one year have seen more of the country than most kiwis.

one of my previous managers lived like that everywhere he landed (even exotic locations like st. louis, missouri), and i think i will too from now on...
