every day at ten minutes til two i can hear the whistle call from the paddle steamer waimarie (pronounced y-mar-ee-ay) on the wanganui river.

turns out its this guy pulling the chord. in the places on the river where you can't see civilization on the banks, its easy to imagine this trip in the early 1900s...
